Available, Expectant, Watchful

I find it so interesting that when Jesus was born, God only revealed the identity of His Son to a few—to the shepherds, to Simeon and Anna at the temple, and to the wise men in the east. Everyone else missed the miracle.

Why?

Was it sovereignty? Was it busyness, distraction, or complacency? Was it a heart posture? Or maybe it was simply divine will.

We may never know why the rest of God's people went unaware of the birth of the Christ, but we can examine what we know about those who did get to see Jesus.

The shepherds were available.

Simeon and Anna were waiting expectantly.

And the wise men were watching.

Oh Lord, help us to live our lives being available, expectant, and watchful so we don't miss your miracles.
