Fight Forward
Numbers 33:52-53, NIV
drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols, and demolish all their high places. Take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.
Psalm 149:6, ESV
Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands,
Nehemiah 4:16-18a, NIV
From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked.
To move forward on behalf of the kingdom of God we are simultaneously moving forward against the kingdom of the enemy.
We take ground, and we fight—at the same time.
We praise, and we fight—at the same time.
We build, and we fight—at the same time.
So if you’re moving in momentum toward something God has called you to do, or you’re moving in momentum in your walk with him, don’t be discouraged if a battle breaks out. Possession of ground in God’s kingdom means dispossession of ground in the enemy’s.
It’s to be expected, not feared.
Take the ground. Sing the praises. Build the wall.
Fight forward.
Oh Lord, thank you that you promise the weapons of your warfare have the power of the enemy. Give us the courage, strength, and defiance to fight forward. Amen.
