2 Kings 2:7-8, ESV
Fifty men of the sons of the prophets also went and stood at some distance from them, as they both were standing by the Jordan. Then Elijah took his cloak and rolled it up and struck the water, and the water was parted to the one side and to the other, till the two of them could go over on dry ground.
Isaiah 43:2a, ESV
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
Did you know that God actually parted bodies of water in the Bible 4 times?
He parted the Red Sea for Moses and the Israelites when they fled from the Egyptians.
He parted the Jordan River for Joshua and the Israelites when they began taking the promised land.
He parted the Jordan River for Elijah and Elisha before God took Elijah to heaven.
And He parted the Jordan River again for Elisha when he returned to the group of prophets after Elijah had been taken to Heaven.
Bible scholars estimate that there were likely at least two million people in the nation of Israel when they crossed the Red Sea—and when they crossed the Jordan River 40 years later.
God split the waters for two million—and He split the waters for two. And then, for one.
And He promises to do the same for you.
God doesn’t care if the miracle includes many or few, His heart is to do the miracle for you.
