God Will Do It

Psalm 57:2, ESV

I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.

Psalm 138:8, ESV

The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me;

1 Thessalonians 5:24, ESV

He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.

The last two weeks we’ve talked about purpose and assignments—that God has them for us and that we shouldn’t try to take assignments which aren’t ours to take. Today we’re going to talk about another important point along these same lines—the fact that God will do it.

We have to do our part, of course, but ultimately we cannot be the executor of our own destiny. 

God does it. 

God works holiness into us as we surrender to him. God directs our path. God connects us. God equips us. God gives us dreams and visions. God plants and positions us. God gives us favor or takes it away. God does it.

So if you’re feeling panicked today, like you need to do something or you’re going to miss what God has for you, then find rest in this today—God has you. If you’re tempted to scramble and strive and take matters into your own hands, then find rest in this today—God has you. Keep doing your part to lean into Jesus and be faithful with what is in your hands, and know that God will do the rest.

God will do it.
