It's Not Obligation, It's Love

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31‬:‭3b‬, ‭ESV‬‬

I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.

John 3:16a, ESV

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son

God’s faithfulness to us is not given out of obligation, it is given out of love.

The gift of Jesus was not given out of obligation, it was given out of love.

We preach this with conviction to others, but do we believe this—with an equal level of conviction—for ourselves?

God loves us more than we can ever comprehend. Even though we can experience it, we can never understand it.

So may someone be reminded of this today—God’s faithfulness to you is out of his love for you.

And as we prepare our hearts for this Easter weekend, may we be reminded that the gift God gave us—and the cost Jesus paid for us—was not out of obligation, but out of love.

Thank you, Lord, for your love for us. We love you too. May we always be growing in our love for you and in our understanding of your love for us. Amen.
