Prince of Peace

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Prince of Peace.

Peace means “completeness, soundness, and wholeness.”

Through Jesus, we are complete.

Through Jesus, we are sound.

Through Jesus, we are whole.

This beautiful name for Jesus is a culmination of each of the other three.

We have complete peace through Jesus because he is our Wonderful Counselor.

We have complete peace through Jesus because he is our Mighty Warrior God.

We have complete peace through Jesus because he is the Father of eternity.

The government is on his shoulders.

The world is on his shoulders.

Our lives are on his shoulders.

And we have complete peace through Jesus because he is the Prince of Peace.

Peace.

Completeness.

Soundness.

Wholeness.

The opposite of wholeness is “to be divided.”

There was a divide between humanity and God, and Jesus came to mend it.

There was a divide between us and God, and Jesus came to mend it.

And now, if we feel like our mind and heart are broken and divided into pieces, Jesus came to mend them. The only way for us to have peace—peace of mind, peace of heart, peace of spirit—is through Jesus.

The Prince of Peace.

Access that peace today. Access Jesus today.

Oh Lord, thank you that you are our Prince of Peace. Thank you that we have continual access to your peace because you live within us. Please bring wholeness to the places within our hearts and minds that feel divided, and help us to walk in the peace you constantly supply. Amen.
