Jonah 3:1-3a, ESV
Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it the message that I tell you.” So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord.
Exodus 4:13-15, ESV
But he [Moses] said, “Oh, my Lord, please send someone else. Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses and he said, “Is there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Behold, he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. You shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth, and I will be with your mouth and with his mouth and will teach you both what to do.
There is one last piece of encouragement I felt the Lord leading us to talk about from the story of Jonah:
you’re not going to miss what God has for you.
It would have to be repeated blatant refusal for the person of God to miss what God has for them.
Don’t be afraid that you will miss it. He will make your path clear. He will direct your steps.
God doesn’t make His calling on our lives hard to find. He doesn’t play games with us. He wants us to walk the path He has for us even more than we want to walk it.
We see this with Jonah and Moses, and we see this with pretty much every other hero of the Bible:
Abraham
Joseph
Joshua
The judges
David
Solomon
The prophets
The disciples
Paul
God will make His plan for you clear to you. Don’t be afraid that you’re going to miss it. God wants you to walk in His plan for your life even more than you want to walk in it.
